Core Cambridge, the UK’s first private athletic performance centre, has committed to working with the Cambridge United first team and youth team for the 2008/2009 season.
The team currently spends 7 hours a week with the players focussing on techniques designed to relate to injury prevention.
‘The difference noted is that footballers are very good at what they do, but as athletes, the scope to improve is massive’ said Ed Hallam of Core. ‘The team at Core Cambridge is helping to get the players more agile and stronger physically; this comes with improving things in training, such as running technique to help prevent niggling injuries such as groin strains’
.
Core Cambridge is a centre of excellence for the strengthening, conditioning and rehabilitation of sports people and athletes of all levels. They strive to research emerging sports science and therapy techniques, and then make them make them available and relevant to everyone!
